As a Canada-based initiative, Africanada Expo recognizes that all of our in person gatherings take place on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples. We are working alongside Indigenous advisors , Elders, and Knowledge Keepers from across Treaty 7 and other regions to ensure that Indigenous voices are present, respected, and centered in the program.

This includes:

  • Ceremonial Opening: An Elder of Knowledge Keeper will lead a land acknowledgement and ceremonial welcome to open the Expo.

  • Indigenous Business and Innovation: Indigenous businesses are among the fastest growing in Canada, with enterprises across energy, infrastructure, tourism, technology, agriculture, and creative industries.

  • Shared Histories, Shared Futures: Indigenous Peoples in Canada and African communities both carry histories marked by colonialism, land dispossession, and systemic barriers. At the same time, both hold deep knowledge of land stewardship, community governance, and inter-generational resilience.

By weaving Indigenous partnerships into the design of AfriCanada Expo 2026, we are committed to doing business in a way that respects indigenous rights, honors local protocols, and builds long-term relationships rooted in reciprocity and trust.
